Quinta dos Abibes honors the terroir of Bairrada with two new crops
Quinta dos Abibes presents two new vintages to accompany the arrival of spring: the Red Reserve 2017 and the Sparkling Reserve Arinto & Baga Extra Bruto 2018.
Released harvests include a red and a sparkling wine. Red Reserva 2017, a 50% Touriga Nacional blend and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in French oak barrels (50% new and 50% 2nd year) for 12 months, followed by another six months of ageing in bottle. With total destemming and gentle and prolonged skin maceration, it is a crystal clear wine, with garnet tones with slight violet nuances, and has a complex and balanced aroma, with notes of red fruit (blueberries and raspberries) harmonized with some spice. The taste is fruity, with balanced and elegant tannins, with well-integrated wood from barrel fermentation, making it perfect to accompany an extensive selection of dishes, including baked in a wood-burning oven and pasta cheeses.
The sparkling wine Reserva Arinto & Baga, of limpid appearance, citrine color with light salty nuances, has 50% Arinto and 50% Baga and 18 months ageing in the basement, and another three after degorgement. It shows a fine and persistent bubble, and a constant crown, it is an extra-raw natural sparkling wine with a fruity and fresh aroma, with notes of red fruit complemented with hints of white flesh fruit, suggesting slight baking aromas. Complex and elegant, the wine has a light brioche flavor combined with balsamic notes, crispy, a good mousse and a long finish, being an excellent option as an aperitif, for leisure moments and to accompany Mediterranean cuisine, including the iconic Bairrada piglet.
